During past few years
E-sport or E-gaming also known as electronic gaming has become a leading trend
to earn money in many regions. Initially, the games were played to kill the
leisure time but now many individuals are adopting them as their profession.
They practice as independent individual or as team to compete in national,
regional or global tournaments that pay handsome reward to the winning team.
Plus, investors and sponsors are paying millions of dollars to professional
players in exchange of screening their games. Thus, E-games are becoming new
trend in career option but before understanding the ways to earn money through
Electronic games, it is important to know what e-games are and how they work.
Egaming
Esports or electronic
games are kind of games that can be played on computers, mobile phones or other
smart devices as independent player or in form of teams. These teams practice
jointly and became support of an individual to compete in professional group
matches that are often sponsored by multinational organizations. Some leading examples
of these games are League of Legends, Apex Legends, Dota, PUBG, Apex Legend and
many others that held regional and international championships on regular
basis. All these games are designed
to facilitate the players from beginning to professional level and their
designs and maps are updated on regular basis to keep the audience attracted.
E-Game Platforms
As
discussed in above paragraphs, E-games are once a mean to entertain the
individuals; however, the revolution in telecommunication and gaming industry
has made them more prior as money making mechanism through leagues and
tournaments that keep E-gaming as well organized industry. Some formats that
keep E-gaming as organized industry are;
1. Tournaments
Tournaments
are one of the leading ways to attract consumers toward E-sports by investing on
potential players or team that compete with other potential challengers. The
teams are selected through qualification matches and once they fulfill the criteria,
they can enter in tournament. Matches are conducted before live audience and
selected jury, referees and officials are hired to monitor the match.
Meanwhile,
the prize money is either sponsored by investors or directly through game
developers. The players qualify different rounds in competition by winning the
matches and in last the team with high performance wins the match and prize
money. In some games like Takken, after winning a match champion battle other
players to safe his or her title
3. Most of electronic games are based on promotion and relegation rules where players are sponsored between leagues and they are offered to play numerous matches in a session. By the end of session, teams or players were placed in ranking and those with high performance are promoted into higher league and the one with poor performance were regulated downward.
Problems in E-gaming
Despite having an
organized pattern and growing global interest in E-games, it is still facing
certain challenges that has somehow subside its role in world economy. Some of
these challenges are;
1. In many states
especially in under developed and developing one, some games like PUB-G are
considered as violent game that needs to get ban that has sabotage the growth
of electronic games industry in these state.
2. The risk of cheating
is high in electronic games due to hacking software. Although, developers
ensure transparency of their projects but still the risk of cheating is much
high in E-games as compared to physical games.
3. In some leagues, players are not paid
enough that may challenge their performance in competitions.
4. In many Asian and
African states, E-gaming is considered as unhealthy activity that is
challenging their scopes in following states.
